On July 17 th, I left Portland and headed to the yearly Good Sam RV rally which was held in Redmond. I arrived at the Deschutes County Fair Ground on a Sunday afternoon. Each morning of the rally I was issued a traffic vest and a security hat. I got to work at the back gate by myself. I was able to visit Redmond on our time off and enjoyed the town.

While I was at the rally, I looked at several RV’s and decided to trade in the Jayco for a fancy dancy new Keystone Avalanche. The Avalanche boasted a 40” Samsung HD TV, electric fire place, two recliners and an air bed sofa. The bedroom was much bigger than the Jayco, this time I could walk around the bed. It also had a sliding mirrored glass closet door and lots of cabinet space. The bedroom even has its own air conditioning unit and TV cabinet. There are three slides on this one compared to two with the Jayco. The third slide was for the outside entertainment system which consisted of a 19” TV, electric refrigerator and two burner propane stove and cabinet area. I had to extend my stay in the area for an extra week waiting for them to prep my new home.

The second highlight of Redmond was the Deschutes Brewery. I had a great time sampling different foods and enjoying their delicious beer. Of course I must point out that Oregon has the most breweries of any state.
